Yes it does....
or sounds like it should do in your case....
and I am talikng about my wifes Z3 by the way.

Yes it should work with the roof down, I have it running when it's really hot like yesterday in the 30's :)
 
looks like re-gassing is in order....iv read that when it his a certain level that it no longer runs as the pump wont run it low :-\
 
good stuff wideboy....iv also read that the system needs to be used at least a couple of times a month for it to remain effective...thats gona be bad in winter :))
 
I have the aircon running all the time but the climate control determines how much cold and hot air to allow into the cabin, so running it in the winter doesn't matter. In fact, aircon in the winter is as important as in the summer for me as it clears the windscreen in seconds rather than minutes.
