You fine folks are basically the solid center of my target audience for the new YouTube channel. I'm filming a bunch of lovely drives, and I wonder what you would prefer for sound. I could keep the ambient wind, tire, and motor noise, but the wind would overpower everything, I think. I could mute the ambient sound and overdub music. I could mike the motor/exhaust so there's an extra motory feel, then damp it and put music over. So many options.. what would you enjoy most as you watch a Zed carve corners and check out the scenery?

Hi Jess, the problem with music is it can be very personal, where as engine noise, wind and road noise is "real" and we can surely all appreciate that. My own personal preference of music, I'm sure would not suit everyone so I'll leave it here. We were hoping to have a long vacation in the US this year but Covid 19 put paid to that idea, however hopefully one day we will get to drive some of Route 66 and the California West Coast Highway. If we do there will be some video of it on via YT.

I think a combination of all options in sections to keep the videos varied ie a bit of commentary on the route, notes of interest, with section of spirited driving in twisters through tunnels with natural sounds can’t beat an exhaust note through a tunnel with cruising bits with music and commentary. Will take some extra editing though.

Love engine sounds and to repeat some of the above, music falters with personal preference (as some of the comments on my own channel show). Maybe get really high-end with it and add in the gear shift noises as well
