@Charles Perkins would like to ask a question.

Can eny one help me.
Have installed the hardtop on my z3,and adjusted as clearly published.( thanks to all)
However looking for photographs relative to the defrost wiring.
I have found the connectors on the terminals attached to the drivers side anchor supporting the hardtop pins.
However the electrical loop I have attaches to the terminals, the other end has to white plastic electrical connectors
Lost as to where I connect.
The car is a 2002 Z3 with mechanical soft top.
All my research within the forums published relates to Hardtop adjustments.
I tend to follow things quickly, but can’t move forward.
The ordered switch is on its way!
That should be a challange opening the console?

The wires go to the square plastic electrical coupler (for lack ofa better name) block that sits on the left side rear top mount. It looks like a plastic square with copper traces and flat terminal connectors. I have yet to purchase the switch and make mine work but have amassed a great deal of documents and parts of manuals, mostly PDF's. I am attaching them to this post, perhaps they can help, look at the drawing carefully

Apologies for the number of PDF's, the reason is some are a little bit different from one another and its more like being a detective in trying to locate the right drawing, picture or comment.
I Just tried it, I am using Google Chrome as a browser, I just click on the item and it downloads automaticaly, let me know if we need to try something else.

Yes, my kit came with a square adapter that sits in the left (US Drivers side) rear roof socket, it also has a short wire with connector that match the car side connector and all works together. I don't have mine working yet because I haven't found a good deal on the switch that goes between the seats yet to turn on the defroster.

I wonder if a simple switch would work?

Cheers,
Rudy

Thank you.
Still a little confused.
Would you happen to have a photo?

I bought the HRW switch from BMW and it cost under £20.

The adaptor harness was £18.
Haven't seen the harness yet online, but still looking unless somebody has a part # they can share.
Found the switch, i see they are very proud of it here, they are asking about $110- $140, will keep looking though!

Yes indeed, expensive to say the least!!!
Back to the hardtop, when one takes the hardtop off, do we have to detach the wiring?
Or contact is engaged during the on off task?

I paid nowhere near that price, like l said under £20.
I'll call my local dealer tomorrow and see how much they are. But l think the part comes from the USA.
