With foreign travel still likely to be difficult next year, could 2021 be the year of the mini zed tour?

North Wales has some spectacular roads, coastline and even a Mediterranean style town (must be real, I saw it on Top Gear the other week) and I've never driven any of them. Must be ideal for a long zedding weekend and not as far for me to travel as the lake district or Scotland.

I'd love to spend a few days up there in the spring / early summer, so I'd love to know the best places to visit both in and out of the car.

Let me know your favourite places to visit (including hotels) in North Wales and I'll try and include them in my trip. Afterall your recommendations are better than tripadvisor.

I can find a space

Not sure if you can actually drive through Portmeirion as they did - I have only ever been there for the No.6 music festival but I get the impression that you have to park up in the car park and then walk down with vehicle access being reserved purely for the residents.

There are a lot of good road in N.W. though, guess you have to do the Evo Triangle while you're there - used by TG and other car shows and magazines, doesn't take long. Apart from that I am usually just following so cant offer any more advice except to say be careful with the Rozzers - they are "keen" against speeding there.

June last year we did a trip, left our home Chester-Le-Street, across to the lakes stopped for lunch, on to Chester for the first night. Next morning to Llandudno stop for lunch, then to Portmeirion, great well worth a visit. Then a perfect summer evening drive to to Abergavenny. Thanks to the weather one of the nicest drives i have ever done. Finished off around the Cotswolds before heading home. We had similar trip booked for June this year, second night Barry Island [ gavin and stacey country haha ] Alas Covid struck.

Speed cameras on a big part of the Evo now
