Handsome Jack how did you access the wiring connection when you changed yours, can you get at it from underneath the car?
i fitted a lucas one a few years ago with no issues... cost about £30... maybe i have been lucky.... on my m44 engine...had terrible trouble starting with the old.. one and occasionally cutting out..

Glad to buy a BMW part. If the original part was one for a number of years, so should it be with the new one! Slightly off topic, but I recently had to replace the original number plate light bulb on my 1984 VW Golf, and that was the 26th part I replaced, apart from tyres and batteries...

I know yours didn't but mine did? I never have advocated buying very cheap ones mate, but as far as I can see a Bosch part with the logo ground off is still a Bosch part even if it was half the price, and as has been quoted in the past that they're substandard Bosch parts is a load of carp. Bosch do not sell on parts which fail quality control.

This is the one I fitted, you can see the Bosch logo has been removed, but, the part number IS still there.
Google it.

This is the cheap one which I fitted first which cost around £26.00 IIRC.

Some sort of nondescript logo, no part number, absolute crap.

Tony.

I never said Bosch sell parts that fail quality control @t-tony I just suggested that there may be a 2 tier system where it fails a higher BMW check but passes a lower Bosch check. The Bosch level could be very high and the BMW level silly high.

There must be a reason why BMW parts are sold with the name scrubbed out. Why not make them with a Bosch only logo from the outset?

Or maybe it's just over production. Either way I'm amazed BMW allow them to do it.

All I'm saying mate is that there are parts out there worth buying without going straight for a BMW original part. I wouldn't buy anything for less than £50.00 for that reason. Just playing the Devil's Advocate here, somewhere between cheap crap and very expensive.:)

If I knew where to go and buy Bosch parts with scrubbed out BMW logos I'd happily go and do so. I've got not reservations.

This was a Febi branded box containing a Bosch part with the Bosch logo removed but still showing the Bosch part number mate. No BMW branding at all. AP and ECP do sell quite a lot of genuine stuff with the manufacturer's logo removed including Ford parts.

The trouble is you can't be sure what you're getting though or can you? How do you know if you order Febi you get a Bosch/BMW part? And I just don't have the stamina to go and have a discussion about it with the local ECP branch. 45 mins to get served and then they haven't got a clue :(

The one ECP sent me was the "premium" one at at £60 odd but wasn't upto the mark. I didn't go with the cheapest as you and Lee had both said to stay clear. Maybe mine was just a duff one.

Have had the error code for the Camshaft Sensor return so thinking of replacing it.
Best Option??
Get one from BMW or whats the best aftermarket one? Pricing for these parts range from £13.66 to £117.00 :banghead:

No point putting a crap one in that will only last a week, but then I dont want to be ripped off by BMW if there is a good aftermaket one that will do the job !!
hi for what is worth i changed inlet & outlet sensors on my m52 z3 3 years ago no probs at all £10 each of ebay & a 15 min. job what is there to
lose ?
