Either on the dash board or in the back window :p
I don't really like being videoed when I'm driving ( not that I do anything wrong ) :)
I just don't think it's right :)
I know why their their but still don't like it :)

Ha, no seriously they are great for a number of reasons. If you have an accident they can come in very handy.

Insurance purposes

It's just for the person ............ :p
If they have a accident to prove it wasn't their fault :)
It's a good idea :)
But I still don't like it =))

If you have a collision with a cyclist you'll automatically become blame worthy even if it's not your fault. I was a keen amateur cyclist until 2yrs ago and I rode with some very iffy people as regards their attitude to other traffic on the road, I have two camera's,dash and rear because no way am I going to be held resposable for a mistake made by another road user and specially a cyclist who has no regard for his own safety. If you think I'm prejudice then go look at the way most ride in traffic in London, Oxford,Cambride even your own local city, won't take you long to make your mind up, now I'm not saying their all the same but there's a lot out there. I tried to ride as I drive and only had one near miss in 37yrs and it was not the drivers fault more like fifty fifty, but the police most probably wouldn't see it that way. I believe the cyclists should have some form of mandatory instruction on how to deal with traffic hazards that could potentially kill them and vehicle drivers should have instruction on how to deal with cyclists. Cyclists in the know will have helmet cams so if you don't have dash cam your at a disadvantage with the law and your insurance company. Nuff said.!!!!!!!!

Agree with you RHA my mates missus was pulling out a petrol station when a female cyclist 18yrs old ran into her pi---d up and riding on the footpath but my mates missus got the blame and it affected her car insurance in such a way she could not afford to insure her car, so now my mate has to insure it and she has not driven since. Lost all her 12yrs no claims

Hi Shelly

I've had one in the car for the last 6 months. Since travelling backward & forward on the A12 for the last 8 years I have noticed a definite increase in poor driving.......white vans etc 'under taking on the inside lanes while you are traveling 80 mph on the outside lane. I call them the 'under takers' :)...................I see them nearly EVERY DAY

Working on the law of averages; I feel sure one of these nutters will be heading in my direction as they virtually cut in within 6" of yer front bumper........only to claim in the event of an accident..... "a rear end shunt.......not my fault"

I've already had a couple of situations where I point to the camera.......and the nutter miraculously changes to a vicar :)

I'd recommend a dash cam to anyone for peace of mind.........may not stop the accident, but useful if the insurance company starts to wince.

PS I'll have the Dash Cam running for the London to Brighton rally at the weekend :)

I have to be very careful when turning into the work car park in a morning too Bill. You get cyclists riding along the footpath on "our" side of the road even though the cycle path is on the other side of the road. Also you get many walking along with the head banging kit stuck in their ears totally oblivious to what's happening around them. I just apply the good and loud BMW horn as I get near the gate to get their attention, and I make them stop, as I think the footpath ends at the curb return at a gateway. Plus I don't want some one running into the back of my car while I let them cross in front of me. Rant over.

Tony.

When we were heading back home over the Woodhead from Manc a few weeks ago an idiot in a Transit van over took several vehicles on a length of double white lines. I was going to post this video in you tube to shame the W.....r but sadly the card was to small and by the time we got home it had been recorded over. If there had been an accident I would have pulled the card to keep this video for the police. I normally run a 32GB card but only had an 8GB at the time.

I imagine it is Mike, I can only grumble about the to55ers that I come across, sadly most are headed to Lincoln University to be educated. That's 'kin' scary.

HT, I can remember driving through Amsterdam at the time they let everyone go home from Uni, school, work, and I've never seen anything remotely like it since. There was literally a sea of cyclists came from no where, I actually tried to find somewhere to pull over to get out of what I felt I couldn't cope with. Rha, Roy
