Bumped into a very long trailer hitch on a pickup while parallel parking and got this small crease in the front bumper. Any ideas about fixing without taking the bumper off?

@pgunter did a cracking job of repairing his, I think there is a thread on here somewhere.

I would take the bumper off. If you have a soldering iron, use it to plastic weld and form a better smooth gash. Then sand lightly and fill with a plastic flex filler. Mask off an area bigger than the damage and spray a good base primer undercoat. Them rub back to that it’s almost gone. Then do it again. This way you are building up a smooth layer. Use a fine wet and dry paper building up layers. Then apply the base colour. Remembering to leave at least 24 hours between the undercoat primer and your first colour coat. Apply several colour coats with a light mist spray. Do not try to cover it all in your first few passes. Build it up. Then a light sand with wet and dry and more colour coat. Then with the last colour coat apply after a few hours the top coat lacquer. Slow to dry and a few more coats. Yes it takes time but prep is the thing that gives your last coats the finish you need. You can mist spray out the edges to blend in if it’s not a perfect match.

I am no body shop sprayer but with time you can get a really nice finish. You can see the images and progress below.

good luck and enjoy doing it.
