Since the M came back from lee we did a 300 mile round trip to Devon it was fine except for the idle.I went to fill it with fuel last week and on the way home she started making a fair old knock ,so she’s been parked up worst case scenario is a engine rebuild at a well known bmw specialist with everything done £7000+vat .looks like I’ll be getting my hands oily ......

I hope you haven’t spun a shell as a full rebuild did cost me some at the time a exhange crank with shells was £1200 but got a secondhand one reground, if I did it again I would have the new one it’s well worth investing in some arp conrod bolts they won’t stretch like the oem ones. I hope your diagnosis is better than what I had.

Me to ,but I’m not holding my breath. I don’t mind doing the job but it’s not really what I want to be doing and i’m going to have to save a bit first and my mate has a lift and a nice garage,if it’s worse case it’s going to come out with better than standard
