I finally plastidipped my wheels. It was less work then I though, but I did it all wrong according to the guy on youtube.

Well I can do it better again, because the missus want me to do her wheels as well on her Alpine white E91.

The magnetic stone guard still looks good on this side. The other side only lasted a week. After that I hit a VLC cone with 100kmh on the side of the road, which turned 180 degrees and dented my rear arch and destroyed halve of the upper guard. I will see if I can make some sort of template and plastidip a new one.

I want to stick a new emblem on the bonnet, because all the blue paint was gone. I'm thinking about a carbon lookalike or something.

A closer up of the wheels shows that the plastidip have a texture in it. This is because I didn't follow up the exact recommendation of the guy of youtube. I didn't see the part were he explains that you don't lay your wheels flat on the ground : Plasti Dip Your Wheels - The Complete Guide and Official Do's and Don'ts of Plasti Dipping Your Wheels.

Texure in the plastidip:

What I also did wrong was ending the can until the last drop. If the can is almost empty, the pressure is not that high anymore. The can starts to sputter a bit which you can see in the results. This is what I found out myself.

Today I did the E91 of the Missus (Happy wife, happy life) and the result was much better. I took the wheels of for cleaning and for removing the emblem. Then I put them back and sprayed them. The surface is now way more smoother, It could have been better if I didn't go to the bottom of the can. I left the cans in a bucket with warm water to keep the plastidip thin. It will atomize better. It makes a big difference in the result!

Smoother surface:

I used tire shine on the sidewalls to peel off overspray easily.

Thanks for the close ups.
I see what you mean about not using the last of the paint, but still not a bad finish. I think the wheels look great on your colour of car.
Love the dog too.......

Hi Dobiwallah, nice looking wheels! I have an off topic question, what brand or method are you using for the halos around your lights, they seem very bright.
Thank you.

I got the halos from ebay 4 years ago. I had to modify them a bit to make them fit.

These are getting amber when indicating.

The side DRL's are these or similar: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Brig...ht-Turn-Signal-/273041962444?oid=322186464712 They are quite bright. I'd like to be seen from a distance. To many nutters on the road here. They also make your Z3 appear wider.

Thanks Dobiwalla, I like the way they look in your pictures... I will investigate since we have nutters here too!
Thanks again.
