Thats shocking, I had the same issue as I live in a small village in the sticks, It used to really annoy me that I had to pay for 20mb and was getting less then 1mg, all the villagers got together and approached a company called Quickline, they installed a receiver in the centre of the village and we now get around 22mb.

This is mine. Crashes regularly and we've just had the latest hub installed. It has improved it but still doesn't seem to cope with demand.

Rubbish....

Looks like you've got a line fault. I presume its not always been so poor.

Report it to BT (I presume you're on BT Internet - if not, report it to your ISP and they will contact BT for it to be looked at).

BT will test the line and probably find no fault found - thats the usual response.
If you have got multiple tests at different times of day that will help.

If that is what happens ask for a full line condition test or a swap of line back to the exchange. For such a slow speed I'm guessing that you're not served from the street cabinet but its still possible. The usual cause is water ingress into underground cables. It might come back as lines dry out making it difficult to diagnose. Could also be a faulty DSLAM at the exchange but I'd hope that would report a fault itself.

When they test its likely they will ask that you remove all but one ADSL filter and phone and that is plugged into your master phone socket.

Hope you get it fixed.

That's pretty good for ADSL Dave.

Who is your ISP and which hub do you use?

I won't post my broadband speed - it'll make you weep

Better but still not good. Worth reporting.
Have you reset your router?
Do a full power cycle reset - it might kill or cure

Mine's down today. Sky are shocking. £35 a month, I average under 20mbps. Getting dumped when it's been a year.

Been on virgin media for broadband for years. No complaints at all. Cost has gone up. Don't know exactly but not much more than yours and getting 150Mbit/s download and 10MBit/s upload. Knocks all ADSL based broadband into a cocked hat. Can simultaneously stream several HD programs and have the boys playing their games and work at the same time. Don't have virgin tv or phone though. Prefer Sky.

Virgin Ian with a new hub 3. Still struggles at peak times. We tend to stream tv all the time and it can suffer around 7-9pm most days.

Virgin have publicly accepted that some of their backbone network isn't capable of supporting peak demand.
It should't take them too long to sort that out, but, after concerns about Huawei routers from China, I bet there's a backlog on getting carrier grade equipment from other suppliers like Cisco and Juniper.
