Because it titled "Sportsman" you could always start another thread with Britains greatest "sportswoman"
Like I said I don't really do sport. Apart from Foggy who is a bit of a hero of mine the others are names from my growing up. I was an armchair Snooker and darts fan sat with my dad.

Must admit I was into the snooker scene when the Nugget started kicking backside, stopped watching after Henry slipped down yhe rankings. Jimmy White, talk about a nearly man, 10 finals as runner up or something like that ?

Snooker was great in them days mate, what about Higgins, I went to see him play live, he was that p***** he didn't even start so they managed to get Dean never was Reynolds, me and him had an encounter a few years later.

I bet very few of you lot out there will even know this man's name, yet he was a multiple world champion, is English and a very nice man to boot. I chatted with him on the banks of the Fosse Dyke canal near Saxilby many years ago. His name ?? Bob Nudd.

I know that name well mate, in fact when I started reading your post I knew it would be Bob Nudd, I've been a keen angler from a very young age and have caught a few tiddlers
I've met Bob Nudd and he is a real gent. He was very giving of his knowledge. An angling great.

It was almost 50, 48 and a bit, I must have had over 100 40's but never managed a 50, I once took a mate with me and his first fish was a 51lb leather, he woke me up at 4am to tell me, I won't tell you my reply but he sacked it and we did the pics in the morning.
I have pics somewhere of a 50+ that I miss -weighed one night, we where pretty drunk and I had a very large common, I put it on the pod and it tipped the scales at 38lb, took pics and let it go, in the morning I had another that was somewhat smaller and it tipped the scales at the same weight, when I looked the sack was touching the floor,
it was only when I see the pics that I realised just how big the first fish was, the one that got away
You must have been gutted mate. Where did you catch them, was it France?
@PHILIP BAXTER heres a couple more, the grassy was just short of 40 and caught within in minutes of arrivig at my peg, I cast plastic corn to a rolling fish as my rod was still set up with it from my last session, the last pic is my first ever 40
