Well worth the grief now I expect?£80 a pair fully refurbished with new seals and pistons, also powder coated, I couldn't get one rear Z3 one for that and they have more power for when I upgrade the fronts to balance it

I wish you had too mate, it would have saved some sleepless nights.Well worth the grief now I expect?Wish I'd had a look when I was over there that day mate.
Tony.
I did a final check of all suspension stuff whilst it was on stands and found quite a lot of bolts that needed a quarter turn, found a drop link that was as slack as a dogs arseI said your mate would pick it up straight away, nice and easy fix. Glad it's sorted
Always good to have a second pair of eyes looking over you to check nothings been missed. I tend to do it with @gookah, always looking over him to check he doesn't miss anything when fixing my car.
I'm waiting with baited breath Dave.I said your mate would pick it up straight away, nice and easy fix. Glad it's sorted

If its underneath I wouldn't worry that much, people will be too busy dribbling over that gorgeous exterior you've producedI did a final check of all suspension stuff whilst it was on stands and found quite a lot of bolts that needed a quarter turn, found a drop link that was as slack as a dogs arse
They were Z4 callipers Pete, and that means when mounted on a Z3 the hose attachment dictates that they're fitted upside down, resulting in the bleed nipple being at the bottom of the cylinder instead of the top. That meant that even when Sean had bled the brakes the rear callipers still contained a fair amount of air. The bleed nipple has to be at the top to extract all the air from the system. Not sure what your saying , we're the calipers fitted upside down or were they the wrong calipers

If I’d had a look Sean I probably would have told youWish I could take the credit pal, my mate lookes at it for ten mins and said "I'll have this sorted in 20 mins" with a wry smile on his face, I didn't believe him until he pointed out the problem, at least we know in the future if someone decides to fit Z4 rear calipers
If I’d had a look Sean I probably would have told you
The car was upside down![]()
Good point Brian,Hi Sean
Just a thought when checking the drop link bolts the horizontal ones that secure the lower end of the drop link to the 'U' shaped bracket on the lower arm should be tightened when the weight of the car is on the suspension. If they are secured when the suspension is hanging the bracket is bolted tight against the centre steel bush and twists the rubber when the car is on the floor and can cause early failure of the rubber bush.
