Hello all
Had the brake fluid changed by a local small garage, easy job with the little machine he uses, would do it myself except for the slope of the drive making jacking all four wheels difficult, anyway I asked if he would reset the warning lamp and out came a very expensive diagnostic computer, plugged into the OBD and it told him to use the 20 pin socket, but he didn't have the adaptor.
I came home and got my adaptor and had a quick look with my C100 very cheap tool which was no help so went back to matey with the adaptor, despite lots of looking and lots of noises from various underbonnet items, still no light off, so am stuck with BF change light on, this the third time I have had the fluid changed in my ownership and the light has always been deleted, the first time at the same garage albeit by a different guy, (he no longer works there)
So has anyone any suggestions that are printable on how to get this light out without a main dealer visit, I am aware the light is only on momentary but even so it needs to be sorted.
Can anyone help please. DD

All you need to know here

When I bought my Z it had an approved BMW warranty which meant for the fist year I had to get it main dealer serviced. When the clock came on I took it to the local main dealer and had the fluid changed. When I picked it up after the light was still on, I pointed this out and they took it back in the workshop, after a while the service rep came and said that the light would only go out when things were reset after a full service. I drove home and reset it with the old E bay tool which I had for years for my E30.
The normal level of competence from a main dealer.

Thanks to Colb for the Mike Fishwick article, worked perfectly, the service light was still on the longest set anyway but the clock light for the BF change has now gone, amazing, the garage has a bit of kit they say cost around three and half grand and all it took was a foot of 2.5mm cable and 12 seconds, might dress it up a bit and go back and sell it to them for a tenner.
Mind you I did spend tens of pounds on a workshop manual that whatever problem I've had hasn't been covered by it.
Thanks again for the help, is there anything about a Z3 that Mr. Fishwick doesn't know, I expect not, shame he didn't liase with Haynes for a workshop manual.
Cheers DD
