The Audi TT forum, I can no longer log in.

I recently sold mine due to a frustrating ownership experience, Audi refused to acknowledge issues with the car, so I posted about these on the forum to make others aware.

Nothing rude, or over the top, just facts, and people quickly said they'd had the same issues.

Funny how I can no longer log in, anyone else ever been banished?

You wouldn't get that service here Tim. Go get yourself a BMW!

I've been banned from a few forums but I like it here so I do my best to behave.

Believe it or not I too was once banned from a falconry forum

I was kicked from a forum many moons ago, for the life of me can't remember which one, tried to log in one day and my account was gone.

Incredibly the ban hammer tends to get rather dusty here as the vast majority of visitors here are just too nice... :D

Too true.

Even when a member recently said Z3's were ugly, the following banter was mild and humorous.

Any other forum would have turned bad and thread locked.

Just goes to show Z drivers are nice or is it we are all old fogeys.

try F30 forum, members regularly get banned

Similar to Audi forum then.

I saw plenty of threads descend, a few members warned and booted off, but never thought it'd be me just for stating facts about genuine issues with the cars.

Piston heads is a great one to watch, don't think there's any mods on there at all.

F30 forum is controlled by American moderators and they don't seem sometimes to get the banter and people get banned and posts removed! there was one the other day, asking what happened to a certain member, turned out he was banned; but the funny thing was, later on the post asking what happened to him got deleted as well =))

Forgive my ignorance, but if you are naughty and get banned, can't you just re-join with another user name?

If the answer is "top secret", please don't ban me, I unreservedly apologise and will get a hair shirt!

Maybe they couldn't take a joke when you said: "I'm so glad I've sold the Audi. I've been wanting to trash that heap ever since I bought my BMW Z...................................

That depends, you can banned at a user level or based on your IP address, if it's the latter it makes it a little more difficult for the average person to sign up again with a different username.

I prefer not to IP ban because it's amazing how many people then register a different account and then login using the same IP... Particularly good when you wait for them to post and they say... "Hi xxxxxx, back so soon?", then click ban.... rinse and repeat until they get fed up... :ymdevil:

A lot of forums (and one I've pretty much stopped going to recently) hand out moderator almost as a reward to long serving members. You've been here long enough, have a really shitty job that you'll make a complete arse of because you'll carry on trying to be everyone's mate. The alternative is that the power goes to your head, and you pick up on the tiniest of problems and plough in. I've learnt how to read the mood of a thread incredibly well over the years, you can spot the ones who've been drinking (you know who you are...) and those that are trolling (you also know who you are...) Step in at the right time, with the appropriate response and the problem goes away.

I could write a book about some of the shenanigans members think they can get away with on here... :D

I havne’t been dirnking.... nope
