I've noticed recently that my boot isn't locking. The doors lock fine but the boot remains unlocked. I remember a few months back, maybe even last year that the actuator was making a funny noise as if it was struggling. I haven't yet looked at it and have a feeling the actuator is shot or maybe it is the loom of doom? I'm hoping it maybe a dodgy connector on the actuator as this had to be resoldered in the past, which may have come loose.

Has anyone else had the issue of the boot remaining unlocked?

IIRC we have this problem with a car at the Shed last year. It was the actuator rod which had become disconnected from the catch mechanism. Solved with a small cable tie. Might be worth looking Dave.

I had the same. It was the actuator. Ask @t-tony The merits of a cable tie.

I will check the actuator and give you a shout if I'm in need of a replacement, cheers 👍

Yes centre brake light works fine, I'll check again tomorrow but they were working last week after the issue occured. I'm pretty certain it's the actuator though and not the loom of doom.

Cheers mate, the bootlid has been off in the past for the repaint. Maybe it's come loose so I'll check that first.

if only he had a garage.....
I don't yet. It's just a glorified carport at the moment, until tomorrow :ymdevil:

That was what was wrong on Dawn's car Dave, a lot of the issues she has had have sprung from the cowboys who did the bodywork for her. The paint finish isn't bad, it's just the was they stripped it and rebuilt it that lacked some care.

I could take a look, I have a head torch...
but you know that don't you,
because I took my head torch to your house whilst doing your garage a couple of weeks ago....

and for the last couple of weeks when I have worked on my cars, when I got in the house, I had a big black mark on my forehead, and I couldn't understand where it had come from... But now I know...

I wondered why you've had a black mark on your head for weeks. Best have a word with the carers to do a more thorough job next time they give you a bed bath.

That is how it was on Dawn's car Dave. The rod was disconnected at the actuator but the key would operate the lock.

And the beauty of a cable tie is invaluable Dave.

I didn't take it out, but the rod between the actuator and the lock was all intact from what I could see and feel. I didn't access the other side but what I remember this just has the electrical connection on it. When turning the key in the lock, it pulls and pushes the actuator so the rod must be connected correctly. I'll strip it out at the weekend and take a proper look. Cheers Tony.

It may not be this issue with your car mate, but worth checking. Hope you get it fixed Dave.
