At last the lifter is fitted, bare metal painted, rubber grommet fitted when paint dry.
Before we started we read the official write up on what size the hole needed to be enlarged to ie: 38 to 40mm, we did not think that that was large enough so we made a template in cardboard, made sure that the grommet fitted ok, now ready to mark up and enlarge hole to 46mm, dont know where the 38/40 was arrived at/
It makes lifting the boot so much better and now that I have replaced one of the gas struts that was broken, the boot now stays up
Good work Geoff

Did you take any pics while doing the job Geoff? Would make a good write up for anyone wishing to do it in the future.
Hi Grumpy
No, all you would have seen was a masked boot hole after push button removed. The bit that took the longest was measuring and making an accurate template which was the important part the hole size quoted was very wrong, and the other important bit was not letting the metal get to hot, which would have damaged the paint.
I did it with the help of my chaps at a body work repair place that I used for my respray areas, it took about 2 hours having a chat, coffee and a laugh, good place to have work done if in this area (Minehead)

The Z has only been out a few times in last month but the finger grip makes it so much easier to open boot lid, should have been standard equipment/
