Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, that's why I went the BMW route and not the TT/Boxster/SLK route. That aside I do like all marques of Zed and I still maintain that the E89, in that colour, is Aston Martin gorgeous. That's a spot on Roadster in my view. Let's hope BMW get the next Zed out soon.

Don't tell anybody though ;)

So we can take it that he doesn't like Z roadsters ? =))

On paper some of that is true but in the real world how many nice 1996 mazda mx5 do you see in good nick. Also now reckon zeds are well more desirable and better built. And granted my m43 has only 118 bhp and is certainly no ball of fire still more than capable and at the end of the day its not foot to the floor everywhere you go.
Got to to say that in my opinion the zed 3 and 4 are far classier than the mx5 not that its a bad car just think the bmw carries its self better wouldn't look out of place in a posh hotel car park or something like that.

A good read thanks for popping it on. They will come up with something good. BMW are not going to let this market go. Stand by your Zeds!

There you go Si!

Nice; that much better...and all from one correspondents point of view

Written by someone who doesn't understand sports cars. Its a niche market compared to most manufacturers mainstream models. It always will be simply because of necessity of having four seats for most. Its a much smaller market than for any other car in the range.
But, BMW will always need something in that slot to get people into the brand rather than desert to Mercedes and others.

Quoting the NZ experience is misleading too - Theres always masses of nearly new cars available from Japan because of their pollution controls forcing cars to be shipped out to other right hand drive countries. I bet NZ gets many such cars imported making it difficult for vehicles from further away.

I don't think whoever wrote this has ever sat in a two seater sports car never mind a Z3 or Z4 - Its just a cheap way to fill some column inches about the demise of the Z4.

It doesn't really bother me as I bought my Z3 for the 'retro' look and feel of the car. I could have bought a Z4 for less money, but prefer the Z3.
It's down to personal choice and similarly comparisons with the MX5 depend on what criteria you use. My MX5 was great for 'squirting' from corner to corner on country lanes, but I didn't enjoy travelling 'distances' in it. Not a motorway car and they rust big time! The zed is much better built and more versatile.
I suppose a new sportscar is fine if you use it a lot,but my zed is really a bit of nostalgia for the 'sixties look' without the concomitant reliability issues.
