It's a bmw z3 1.9 m43 8v x reg 2000 plate not long has had a cylinder head gasket job done on her has had most of pipe work replaced including all crankcase valves and pipes all from bmw will check all pipes are secure and clean maf sensor thanks jay

Sorry added fuel system cleaner z3 driving great no eml yet fingers crossed also had new fuel filter 3 months ago and checked all pipe work all seems good took her for a spin today up to a 100mph from lights for a 1.9 8v car doesn't take long to get there well impressed .
All Sports cars need a fuel cleaner through the system at least once a year. Modern fuels are good its just the crap you get from the petrol stations that need cleaning out. I always wonder what additives they forget to add to the fuel to make more profit.
One thing not impressed with is bmw main dealers doing conversion on my z fitting front fogs as it didn't come with them so got lights of eBay reasonable £35 with bulbs only other things needed where 4 bolts for fixing lamps in place a relay and a double fog light switch it cost wait for it £76 I nearly fell off my perch when I said is that price correct he said yes sir as he took my credit card off me no wonder they call them the stealers instead of dealers .
For any parts such as switches etc Jay, you need to speak to Andy @spurs fan in a coupe before going to the main dealers. He has stripped a few Z3's and may well have what you need, at a very fair price.

Just been out for a spin in z3 eml light has come on again aargh plugged code reader in same code again AB check fuel supply p0170 gonna have to take to my mechanic so he can hook up his snap on reader might be more specific cleaned maf sensor and changed fuel filter and banged some redex fuel system cleaner in fuel pumps ok drives fine just that bloody light keeps coming on every couple of days saying same code check ab fuel supply im confused will see what my mechanic says with his snap on reader .
Just replaced mine. Throws the code P 0133. If this is the problem, you'll find a wide range of prices at different stores. The prices I got were from $59.00 to $157.00. I couldn't find the oxygen sensor special socket I had used at another time so I used an adjustable wrench. You use different names for your tools over there, so I don't know what you call it. I have a '96 1.9 L. @t-tony knows exactly what size wrench it is. I put the car up on ramps and crawled under. I tightened up on the sensor and tapped the end of the wrench back and forth for about 5 minutes, gently, and it finally began to move. After that, it unscrewed easily. There were two bolts that held the 2 brackets that supported the wire (one bolt for each bracket, I think either 10 or 12 MM.). After I took off the bolts, the wire dropped down enough to separate the electrical connector. Putting it back was just the reverse. It is recommended that you coat the threads of the new sensor with anti-seize compound before attaching it to the exhaust pipe. I was reading on another forum that several people kept getting the same code after the sensor was replaced. They went through hell looking at everything else since that sensor was new. It turned out in each case that the sensor they installed was the downstream (post) cat sensor that was sold to them incorrectly, instead of the upstream (pre cat) sensor. Once the right sensor was in the correct place, the codes no longer returned. Just double check, it you're getting a sensor, that they're selling you the Pre-cat or upstream sensor. Frankie
Finally found out what problem was maf sensor was knackered but kept saying check fuel supply nothing about maf sensor but sensor started making car run rough so replaced it with new Bosch maf it runs like a new car and no bloody eml light thank god 
only other thing is has anyone noticed with there z3 that back end feels twitchy at say 80mph don't feel confident. To go faster as she feels like she will swap ends with me and put me in a tree or something could it be bushes or shocks thanks Jay

I think you are on the right track getting it on a lift and taking a peek. I've only got a set of cheaper tires on my car and have had it over 120 without problems! Good luck! JIM

Hi I made a vacume tester get a large jar with metal lid drill 3 holes in lid one for a 10 mm clear hose other one for tyre valve and one for solder iron first glue 10mm hose in lid second install soldering iron and glue in place place a cotton sock in jar and poor in baby oil about 25 mm the sock will act as a wick when the soldering iron touches the sock it will start to smoke connect bicycle pump to valve when you pump it will send smoke down pipe next get a surgical glue and put it over air intake pipe aster the air sensor cut hole in glove finger and seal with tap when you pump smoke into the vacuum if there's a leak you will see the moke the cost of this tester is approx £15 I found a leak at my throttle valve
