BMW Mudflaps fitted

Tim, OMG Basil looks wet :-o , are you ok, hope you got the hairdryer and dried him.

Don't take any notice of them all ;) , I have them fitted and after a while you just do not see them, they stop a huge amount of crud and dirt from getting on the side of the car, I would not be without them now.

Hi Brian and thanks, its strange how peeps seem to detest mudflaps especially as theyre fitted to protect the car which I would have thought is the benefit, to my eyes they hardly ruin the looks,

How well do yours fit, i.e. are they a close fit against the bodywork as with mine I'm not happy there is a gap probably due to the 3M tape loosing its stickyness. I think I will wait for a nice warm day and get them off and replace the tape and refit.

Haha thanks Gill :ymhug: well it was typical, forecast was for dry yesterday afternoon but as soon as get him out and start fitting me flaps it pours down :rain( . It was funny as Saturday he received a good wash and someone came to visit next door whilst i was lathering away. Then yesterday she came to visit again whilst I was drying Basil off and she said blimey how long does it take you to wash a car =))

I'm unsure on the seat covers though, I was hoping they would be a dark grey but theyre too light and it looks like a builders van, I'm wandering if I could dye them black as theyre a heavy duty polycotton, might play havoc with my white suit though? :-?

i dont dislike mud flaps, just think that they don't look great on the zed.

I can understand the use however to protect the sills edge and paintwork.

Tim, i have heavy duty covers like yours in the TT, dont care much for the look, but i got them to protect my seats when i am the beach and to stop sand getting in and keep them dry if i was a bit damp in the butt after kayaking :D they work a treat and after 7 years my seats are still pristine :D but you might have adventurous spiders in your garage, heaven knows what escapades they might get up to :D so Basil may very well need them, but ditch the suit, pls ;)


As for the rain :ymdevil: :ymdevil: :ymdevil: just a bit off topic, after last years disaster at re-dyeing my hood which should have been a dry day and wasnt, i carefully planned another attempt last friday- checked 3 forecasts, checked outside, and prepared old zeddy for his op - the neighbours wondered what the hell i was doing, all taped up and all paintwork covered - renovoed the hood, great, looking very nice - half hour later felt a few drops spitting so hurridly covered him up again and the drizzle came for about 4 hours - but all ok this time, i got him covered in time and with enough time for his new colour to dry beforehand - Phew! cant wait for his zeddy port to be built.

=)) I've tried allsorts of the cheaper nylon type seat covers off Fleabay which are supposed too fit the Z3s sports seats but what happens they tear at the seams after a while so I went for the proper BMW ones which fit great but look a bit utilitarian but you know me, I will cover, bubblewrap, cotton wool anything so it doesn't wear out 8-} plus there is no way I'm letting the garage spiders lounge on a nice heated leather seat :ymsmug:

Oh I would be interested too see the results, do you have any pics Jill? I've thought of dying mine sometime just to freshen it up but wandered how long it stays black and fades again.

Regarding a Zeddy port its the best thing I ever had built, this is ours :) money well spent,



We originally built it ourselves using scaffolding poles and it lasted years until the next door neighbour had some work done on the house and the workmen went through the roof panels with their ladders :( so we had it all replaced a few years back. Keeps everything dry anyways, I'm just hoping the Z4 will squeeze in the garage, not sure :-?

Hi, we have part of the pig shed left over (on purpose) to build a zeddy port, he is in front of it - topless, at the moment

Here is the roof nearly done, if you do Basil, make absolutely sure all paintwork and glass/perspex is well covered

Thanks for the piccies Jill, looking good there, haha Basil is used too being under cover :) but what are the step ladders for? :-?

To make sure i could reach the centre of the roof comfortably - didnt want a tide mark while hunting for the ladders :D didnt think it was approprate to do it in heels, might have fallen over and sent the dye everywhere but where it was intended :D

and there are other ways to get the dye where you don't want it.... :p ;)

Old Zeddy looked great on Saturday ... :-bd

Tim, Would it help if you got a couple of lengths of narrow foam pipe lagging and pushed it into the gap between the back of the seat and the seat cushion on top of the cover. 'in days of old, when Knights were bold' we bought some chair covers and that was the method that the manufacturer used to make them fit properly, so that they didn't crease when you sat on them. You never know, it might work :-bd

Boysie, you will NEVER hear my wheels squeel :-o i have a stone wall 3ft either side of me and behind. Its looking better week by week though :-o
