just checking my car to try and find why it only blows hot air, it is a aircon model not working. the car is a 1.9 8v according to some reviews i read the heater valve may stick causing it to blow hot air all the time, on checking there is no heater valve i have the bracket were it should be and the power plug, but there does not seem like it as had one fitted all hoses seem to go to the correct place, my question is because it as air con did it do away with the heater valve, if so were do i need to look for other problems,

The valve and short hose may have been removed and hoses reconnected to matrix in/out only. They will fit that way but a kink in the inlet hose should be noticeable. Any pics?

so what you are saying is the one hose goes to the valve then from the valve to the matrix, there does not look like a kink but i have noticed a none standard hose clip on the one pipe, will try and get a photo

Is your A/c non operable or just fighting the heater? If you put on the A/C does the clutch engage and if so does the temp at the vents drop.? You may need a thermometer to check it. you have little control of the temp at the vents as long as your cable control may be is disconnected, which it may be. You need to control the amount of fluid through the heater matrix so start with checking the clutch and cable. Then search out a heater matrix and install one way or the other. Hope this makes sense. I have the M44 engine but I think the heater valve arrangement is the same as yours. The inlet hose comes from the front of the block (roughly below the alternator) and loops into the back of the heater valve. A short hose (8") then comes out of the heater valve and onto the heater inlet connection on the bulkhead. Heater outlet hose comes from bulkhead connection to rear of block. You can see the general arrangement in realoem diagram but the hoses are completely different length. Best photos I have:
