You will have to pay a lot of money to get a good job. Water-based paint looks like Hammerite unless it is flattened between sprays. Just look at @Nodzed 's latest post after a polish. It's very shiny, but the reflections show how poor the paint finish is on modern cars. The lacquer may be flat, but if the paint isn't, it looks awful. Just go into any showroom and look at the roofs of the cars.
I thought it looked quite good.

The shine is very good - in fact as good as anyone could get. I think factory finish is awful and much worse than resprays. Resprays (unless done on the cheap) usually have lots of work done between layers. I've never seen cars get flatted in a factory. Can you imagine the labour cost if they did? They just rely on staying dust-free and the quality control in the spray booths.

I've assumed the problem is caused by water-based paints. Perhaps @Sean d knows what I mean, and what the real cause is.

I had a full body windows out respray on my present car back in 2014, which cost £3k which included fitting a new OEM rear hatch screen, also stripping off front and rear bumpers. It has largely lasted well until last year when I decided to replace the sill covers plus removed both front and rear wings as there was a little rust starting on the wing wheel arch edges. It also gave me the opportunity to do the inner sill protecction.
Painting cost me £500 as I took the wings (which had been bead blasted to remove rust - cost £20 at local workshop) and new sills into paint shop so they could done without taking the car in as fella was that busy. He also applied Waxoyl to the inner sills areas, the inside of wings and sills.
Hope the posts so far give you some idea of whats involved in getting your car repainted and what you do to maybe reduce the costs if you do some work yourself.

I'm not sure there's such a thing as a 'quick blow over' unless you are patching a car quickly and cheaply to sell. Then it's up to the seller whether it's a fair thing to do to the new owner. I associate a blow over with tarting a car up only for it to rust again in 2-3 weeks...

You are really asking about a full respray and they are £2-£3k.

There is a place in Swansea which I intend to use when I have an odd part that needs painting. I've not had anything I need doing yet. I've been to chat with him before and I asked to see his completed work. It looked good. And I'm hugely fussy. He explained he is a former BMW man. That was 2-3 years ago and he is an older chap so can't guarantee he hasn't retired. Although if he has he had a son working with him who may be continuing it. I haven't been back down there since.

He has premises that look like something out of the 1970s from the outside but don't let that put you off. The great Jack Smiths in Swansea is the same. His prices were about 50% of more mainstream body shops. He could be just what you are looking for. He is out the back of Pic-Up spares yard (not the retail counter side of the road) down by the Morfa off Cwm Level Road.
Hi what's the name of the place?
