Yup, washing mine on Saturday post my trip out when I saw the dreaded gritter going up our main road, phew. That said, plenty of rain up here so soon washes away for a trip out on milder days :D

Too true mate, wrecked my polished alloy rims last winter.

Always makes me laugh this .....
Would you rather skid off the road and total your car?
Its done for a reason... !!

If you are going to use the car all year round, get a hard top and take it through a decent car wash that sprays the underside as well.
Always did, never had a problem, to much crap posted about using a car wash imhop....

It's sh*** beyond words Mike. Laugh all you like. It seizes the suzies up my my truck in hours. It rots metal. Plenty of other countries manage without it why can't we.

Fight :D

Wouldn't stop me taking the Z out if needed, can always get the hose out on return if overly worried, then there's the heavy rainy day that's good to wash the underside if it comes sooner rather than later. Those living in the vicinity of a forde are catered for I would think. Alloy wheels are a problem though so it's plenty of poorboys to help stop the attack, salt and salt water can only get in through cracks in the wheel coatings. I see no reason for anyone who looks after there car to be worried by salt, grit probably contributes as much if not more to the problems. Bonnet bra may help stop any damage if caught in the awfull wake of a salt&gritter, now that's the one reason I would turn off the road into a side road if I spotted one approaching from either way.

I was in England in January and experienced the gritters first hand. Salt was thrown all over the road and car! Wouldn't have believed it if I wasn't there TBH. I think if i had to drive there in the winter I would have a crappy runabout for winter.
