Blood test ( don’t read if you don’t like needles)

I can understand what you're saying. On four occasions in the past, I had foot infections from a bruise (that got infected). Because of sugar problems, they didn't heal properly and on each of the four occasions, I had to get IV medication for 6 weeks on a daily basis. Fortunately, they insert a pic that's good for about a week or so. But each time they went to put one in, there was always the chance they'd miss and have to try again.
My father used to be on a kidney machine. We had the machine at home. The doctors had tied an artery to a vein in his arm which caused the vein to expand. We used very large needles to feed blood to the machine and return it to his arm. My Mom used to insert the needles into him but she was so afraid of not getting it right, she would often make a mistake anyway. I got so tired of seeing problems occur that I insisted on learning the process and doing it myself. My Mom lacked the confidence of going for the needle insertion fearing she would either miss, go through the vein wall and out the other side, or have the bevel of the needle stuck against the inside wall of the vein blocking the needle entrance. I tried to tell her once you knew what you were doing, you had to go for it without hesitation. The rate of success was very high with this attitude. After a while, my father wouldn't let my mother do it and insisted that I use the needles. This all sounds well and fine, but I still have nightmares about it 47 years later. I was as afraid as my Mom but couldn't let it affect me.........Frankie

My goodness, I couldn’t give anyone a injection, I’d be too nervous, I’d worry so much about it ,
You done well :p

Well done for giving yourself insulin injections :p
I don’t think I could do that :)

It started off as needles but then I had a pen and you can't really feel it, the blood thinners were a needle but I soon got used to it I asked the nurses to do it myself after so long. Now I'm type 2 diabetic so just take tablets and no more injections unless it's a blood test, not counting testing my blood sugar which is just a finger p*****.

Years ago I was fed through a tube going down my nose into my stomach, but I kept being sick every 5 mins so it kept coming out , so in the end they took it away :)

I had 3 of these in total plus one down my other nostril at one stage. 2 were in for a month at a time, although I pulled one out myself one night when in ICU .

I have nothing but respect for people who have to live with feeding tubes or having to inject several times a day, 6 months for me was long enough. Sometimes a needle every so often isn't that bad when we see what others have to live with. Doesn't stop us cringing though :nailbiting:

Yes some poor people certainly go through the hoop :p
It makes you think you should be grateful for what your got :)
My problems are nothing compared to 100000 + of other people :)
