Blast from the Past

Managed to find one more. 1992 XR2i. Never took to it although I love my Fords.

Don't seem to have many but here's a few from me. Not the best quality but somethings will never change eh lol!!

My MK1 1.8 Golf GTI with body kit and light conversation. I was most proud having this at 19! View attachment 137857

My 1982 XR3 not an I and my 1988 GOLF GTI 16v campaign edition. I owned this for 13 years along side others, I couldn't part with it, bloody quick in its day. Even remember its plate E647 GPM.

This is the car we bought Jack home in after he joined us in 1995. 1987 Rover 216 Vitesse, actually a lovely family car back then.

It had a full body kit on it mate which then I thought looked ace! Not so now but i was only 19 =))

@Nodzed We used to scour the country looking for these to get the Bullet gearbox out of them for our tuned up Anglia's and Cortina's

Got the wife a yugo as a run around was only 4 mths old, spent next 2 years put back on all the bits that kept falling off, but it was a very cheap car to buy at the time

2000e box and front struts were worth more than the whole car

That is nice.

Did the Corsair have a V4 engine or is that my imagination/memory

Dave
It did 2.0 V4 a bit harsh when revved

I had a Mk1 Granada (Consul) which had the V4 motor. When you opened the bonnet it looked as though something was missing.

The early Corsair had the usual 4 in line Kent engine. Then they changed to the V4. I borrowed an early Corsair from a friend while he was on holiday, took my girlfriend to the seaside in it and got it bogged down in the sand. Not my finest hour! A large, soft riding and comfortable car. I think the V4 was also used for a few years in the Transit van. I never saw the point of a V4 unless you have a very limited space, like in a motorcycle. The V4 always seemed somewhat rough compared to an in-line 4.

Corsair's also had the 1600 engine too. Can't remember if this was a V4 or inline 4

I remember them being 1700 and 2 litre.

Tony.

The 1500 pre crossflow would be the same as was originally in my late brothers Mk1 Cortina GT. When dad got it for him for the princely sum of 50 quid it had a 1200 motor in it.
I didn't know the Corsair had a 1500 version.

I had a Cortina GT Mk 1, 1966 model with Aeroflow ventilation. A wonderful car, one the best I ever owned. The ventilation was excellent, hot feet and cool head. Why can't you get that nowadays?

Yeah, air flow was the dogs back then. Martin's next car was a 1300 Mk2 2 Dr. It had airflow.

Saabs of the day used the German Ford V4 engine which was very different from the UK V4 that had American design influences. All V4s are inherently rough, but the UK Ford V4 was particularly so.

When I was at college one of the lecturers, a Geordie had a Saab V4. He bought it on the strength of the successes on the rally scene with the Saabs. If I recall right the original Stig drove one.

Tony.
