Hello Everyone,

I am writing this following my disastrous dealings with Mr Billy Jay Hughes, who was a member of our forum, in order to warn you to be most careful should you be considering to purchase anything form him.

Some of you may have seen my "M.I.A." posts regarding the alloy wheels I paid him for, but which he never supplied (last April). Despite numerous messages, attempted phone calls (and once hanging up on me when he realised who I was, after I dialled from a private number), some of you reaching out to him on my behalf (and then him blocking you), I had no choice but to file a National Fraud Intelligence Bureau report (No. NFRC200703754917) against Billy. More of you were kind enough to supply me with other information, which shows (see attached screen shot) how Billy is conning indiviauls on other forums. As you can imagine I had to supply all evidence (bank transfer details, messages between Billy and I, etc) to the Fraud Bureau, and I await their investigation and action. But I just wanted this message to forewarn you all, that please be careful if you are dealing with this chap. I am down £400 as a result (see attached) of this mans con on me. I just hope he does not do the same to you or anyone else.

If I lived in the UK or there were no Covid restrictions on travel, I would be knocking on his door, looking for my money returned.

Buyer beware.

Regards

Liam.

Sorry to read this.
My advice? Use a legitimate website and pay through PayPal.

Yes, big lesson learned. Hopefully the Fraud Police will have a chat with him soon.

If you pay with PayPal Goods & Services then you should get buyer protection. A fee will be charged so my personal preference is to cover that for sellers.

If you use Friends & Family there is no fee and consequently no protection.

This is really despicable.

I have been around for just a few weeks, but it's clear the majority of people here are enthusiastic about the cars, predominantly. Any dealings (sales) have been painless, with most stuff I bought from members being sold not for profit, but within the spirit of keeping our lovely cars on the road.

I really hope you can get some redress, and thank you very much for the heads-up regarding this guy.
