Limited only by your imagination and back balance, I’ve had 19s on zeds, it’s the offset that’s key, somewhere between ET 35-45 is generally fine, pcd is 5x120

I have seen a number of different sizes squeezed under these babies. It all comes down to offsets and the look you want.

Do you think I could fit 245/40/17 tires at the front? See my other thread.

most have 225/45/17. I have 245 /40/17 on the rear. I don't think they would fit without rubbing but mine is lowered.

Reckon you will really struggle to get wider than a 225 on the front
Usual front sizes are
225 /55/16
225/45/17
225/40/18
225/35/19

You need a Percy's gauge,
https://www.amazon.com/Percy-01201-WheelRite-Wheel-Simulator/dp/B002L1GFQE

cheaper on ebay i believe, especially with global carriage.
Plenty of people have made their own using a wheel spacer as the mount, probably google would help you there for plans/dimensions.
Max width will obviously mean going to coilovers to maximise space. Remember that the tyre still has to clear on full lock, you can hit the liner or the inner wing. Why something like the above is used, you can check not just for suspension/arch clearance, but liner and inner wing clearance on lock-lock
If deciding on a tyre which 'might' be close to min clearance, you MUST go to the manufacturers website for accurate dimensions, e.g. not all 225 tyres are 225mm wide, depending on the shape of the sidewall some can be 235-240. I know from speaking to my tyre fitter guy he's had folk come in for new tyres of a different make, and found the wheel won't fit back on. The tyres are the same 'size' but completely different dimensions.

As all the members have said, offset will be the key. The fronts are the limiter really. 3 series fitment so 8j et30 is probably the limit aside from finding the skinniest fitting 225 45 17 you can research.Pictures are of 17X8 8j et30 on front. .

Down a bit of a wheel and tyre fitment rabbit hole at the moment and i'm searching for a lot of parameters and combos myself. Can be a bit of a puzzle.

Worth pointing out that the rear is also an 17x8J but its offset is et47. More of the wheel locate under the arch.
