@Sean d would have that roof back on in a jiffy and you wouldn't see the join

Oh well it was only a megane :D

Superb stuff, it's come a long way since I joined in '83, night and day the equipment, PPE and training now. One of my fave phases of the Basic Recruit course was teaching the RTA(C)(I). Miss the muck and bullets if I'm honest :(

Rtc is my least favourite part of the job, ba fires, pumping etc that's more up my street! Not forgetting the odd standby and afa

@Andy McDonnell do you still use Holmatro kit ? I used to work for a hydraulic company back in the early 1990's for a short while and we used to service the rescue kit for the local fire brigade. It was mainly Holmatro, (Dutch kit) back then with a bit of Enerpac too.

@Jack Ratt yes mate. It too has come on a long way, superb kit nowadays and no chance of hydraulic injection with the twin core stuff. There's a 'nice' clip on YouTube of a firefighter from Grampian Fire and Rescue demonstrating hydraulic injection at 750 bar, I won't put it on here as peeps would be ill for days. Sellafield and the Atomic Weapons Establishment Fire and Rescue Service have state of the art kits on their appliances, costs a fortune but great kit.

Back in the 1990's it ran at 700 bar, 10000 psi, which is still the industry standard. We used to love "testing" the shears and wedges after we'd serviced them, great fun, and yes, Holmatro is excellent equipment.

Leicestershire got rid of holmatro about 2 years ago, it was good kit, but this new Lucas kit is battery operated easy to use,no motor and hydraulic pipes to worry about, so at the job it's straight off to work spreading and cutting where before it was setting up etc. Don't ask me exact capabilities but I do remember that forces easily matched and bettered the old kit. Still weighs a ton!

Great progress. Come a long way since the old EPCO kit

All I can say is thank you guys, who knows when your skill will save our lives.
It's a team effort, fortunately bad ones aren't a regular occurrence but when they come along you just have to be professional remember your training and get on with the task in hand, cheers.

Firefighters do great work, always putting your lives at risk for others :p
Great photos to keep ;)
