Hugh I think you should increase to 30 years old:D , as my Zed is getting 22 this year and I still believe is comfy and perfect to ride the Alps!:)

I have to admti the porker is the nearest contender yet but some of the roads we like to explore are unpaved tracks last year it was us and 4x4s at the end of the trail. Lotus doesn't even have a look inits to uncomfortable and cramped for a journey to the alps the same for the morgan just to much of the great outdoors all the time we sometimes like to have a conversation in the car. The Alpha i personally like but there's no way i would drive 3500 miles in a 25 year old and feel comfortable. But keep the options going im still pleased with the way the Z is stacking up against some great suggestions

You may be right with uneven roads although the latest Boxsters are very compliant nothing like early Boxsters totally different cars in every respect.
Maybe I was thinking more of the Pyrenees which I did and drove all over Spain with super smooth tarmac
I went with about 10 others cars and nothing could touch in over the Pyrenees.
So obviously the alps may be a different story as never driven it .
But I am sure you had a great time and enjoyed it that's all that matters.
Nice write up and lovely pics. :)
