Is there any procedure for removing the airbag so I don't blow my face off!

I concur with @Mint as he advised me when I took mine off, remember to put face up though when storing it just in case it does go off for any reason, would jump twenty foot in the air otherwise.

I considered it mate but I don't think you would get it good enough, especially if spraying, I really need to get mine off and done.

I'm going to use the super seal that I got to do my seats, I have just enough I think

just used cellulose paint its dried nice and hard, and yet is still flexible, as for removing airbag as was previously said disconnect the car battery, and wait a few minutes then unplug it, also there a 4 other t20 screws that need to be removed one is holding an earth wire on the steering wheel, and 3 others holding on the slip ring you will see these when you remove the wheel.. i have changed my wheel a few times now and can do it in about 15 mins.... Jayson, i had the wheel off to do this, but i bought a spare wheel while the grotbag wheel was being refurbed. any motor factors / decent spray shop can match up your wheel colour, i used abergavenny brake and clutch the fella there Keith has worked for years mixing paint for other motor factors, and really knows his stuff, you need a semi gloss celulose i left my wheel with him for a few days while he played about with different colours, i sure if you mentioned me he could mix you up a can, as he hasa the colour now...

i think it depends on the air bag if its a dual stage or single stage, i know mine is a single stage not sure all are the same in Z3s....

The duel bag is a lot bulkier steering wheel mate and IMO not as nice as the single stage

Lots of advice on the net. Basically disconnect your battery and wait a few minutes before disconnecting the air bag.

Dave when Jack tried to disconnect my battery the alarm kepted sounding? so he tried to do it with battery still connected and it worked fine as he said as long as you don't turn on the ignition itshould be fine
