Been Spending (what treats have you got lately)

Just had an Email back from them saying they will ship a replacement but i told them i am going to strip the wires back and twist theirs around them to prove if it is a connection issue if it is still the same i will Email them to ship a replacement. No point doing that first and not proving if it is a connection issue.

Can't say fairer than that Bill, fair play to you mate.:)

Tony.

But if you do that you have twice the amount of connections and twice the possibility for a problem.

Tony.
Not with the correct connectors - it will be marginal voltage drop across the connections but a proper adapter cable with connectors on each end will be better than those supplied with the device. Soldering is by far the best solution but more risky to implement. The issue with connectors is the number of insertions they are designed for. In situ the car ones are quite sturdy but they're not designed for lots of use.

Soldering isn't risky Ian if you're competent. If you're not then they supply those crappy connectors which is a cop out mate. Problem being there is such a big gap between the two choices in reliability. My only gripe with the Gap-Tech unit was that the tails on the wires could have been longer, then you could locate the module right up inside the facia under the radio then there would be no tension on the connections.
It's still a great bit of kit when working as it should I'm sure you'll agree?:)

By Jove it looks like it grew there @t-tony you've made a top job of that

Steve
Ha.Ha, thank you Steve. It even works now, since I took the trouble to read my owner's handbook and understand how it works.=))=))

I only discovered a few months back that you can use the cc to accelerate and decelerate .
Before that I just used it to maintain a constant speed......but this is the first car I've had with it fitted and it's a great feature I love it :).

Steve

It's like having a hand throttle Steve.

Tony.

Had a new windscreen fitted yesterday as the original was the BMW one and looked like it had been used as target practice by an air rifle club :meh:.
Got it done through the insurance so I only had to pay the £60 excess :).
Just got to apply a new .org window logo now.

Mine has several stone chips Steve and will likely have to be replaced at some point.

Tony.

It is mate, mine is a tad aggressive on acceleration you feel the rear squat down a bit.
Is it smoother on yours @t-tony ?.

Steve
Not sure mate, we should compare?:)

Tony.

So i soldered the wires today and now i have the one touch open feature from inside the car but it still does not work on the remote. Not sure if a fuse may of gone but i do not think so as it opens normally on the fob press and hold but wont work with the Gap-tech to open and close using the 3 press system. So i have emailed them and now waiting for a reply.

It took me a while to get the hang of it. Lock the car. Leave it twenty seconds or so then try pressing the open on the fob no faster than once a second. If you try again leave a few seconds between each attempt.

I found you do have to be quite deliberate with the three presses for open and close(lock)

Tony.

Will try that later just put the renovo cleaner all over the roof.

Made a small purchase today, hopefully be here in a week or so.:)

Tony.

Yipee Have finally got the Gap-Tech to operate happy days.

Good news Bill. Grand job!:scorecard:
