Ok peeps...... I have found out If its possible to paint parts of your car in your back garden without any experience or painting talent whats so ever
First off what have I painted? My sills had the usual rust so I thought i'd tackle that first so I took them off and found they were worse than they looked, I started by grinding off the paint from the ends and it just went further and further back in fact the stone chip had dried out in places and was not stuck to the steel in places and just peeled off so I thought I'd bite the bullet and take all the paint off back to bare metal......IMG_2695.JPG IMG_20170611_150620.jpg

Then I had to cut out some of the rust and weld in new bits and remake the ends that had all but rusted away in places, then I shotblasted what rust I could and treated the whole panel to a rust treatment, then sprayed a coating of epoxy mastic (rust.co.uk) then some epoxy primer then some stone chip on the bottom parts then some more epoxy primer/surfacer and used a guid coat to block sand them down then wetsand it down then base and lacquer..... and is it ok? I'd say i'm happy with it, very little orange peel and no runs or stripes! so yes you can :)

Nice job ! Now you have perfected the techique you can move on to other panels. That wing section looks as though it has a little rust on the edges. But you are correct in taking the sills off to do a proper paint rather than a cosmetic touch up job
