Hi everyone, just wanted to make you aware of a "How to Guide" I recently posted showing how I replaced the rear beam bushes in my Z3 with new Powerflex ones. As we head into Winter I'm sure many of you will be making a list of things that need done over this period and I thought this guide might be of interest. The beam bushes are something many of us put off for as long as possible due to the amount of work involved but this method was great and worked really well for me and the car is now running better than ever. https://www.zroadster.org/threads/beam-bush-replacement-in-situ.56797/

Hi Andy read your write up a few days ago certainly doing it the way you did takes a lot of the donkey work out of the job.
Doing ot the way you did do you think you would get oe rubber bushes back in instead of the poly bushes as they will not be everyone's cup of tea.
And from past experience poly bushes tend to be a lot easier to refit than the rubber ones so was interested in your view on whether rubber ones would go back in using the method that you described.
Stephen.

Hi Stephen, I was wondering the same thing actually before I did this job as I already had a set of rubber bushes available but went with poly as I knew they would fit ok. I guess if the rubber bushes had plenty of lube on them and correctly positioned under the beam maybe on an axle stand, the car was then lowered onto it, the weight of the car should force the beam onto the bush…..theoretically!!! It would all have to be lined up fairly carefully, I would think. It would certainly be handy if it could be done that way….just need a willing volunteer.

I doubt that just the weight of the car would be enough to force the bushes into the frame. But I'd be happy to be proved wrong!

Tony.

That's what I was curious about Tony.
Obviously most poly bush are 2 pieces so easy re fit but the rubber 1 piece so more effort to fit required.
