Going through the paperwork on my newly acquired car and I see that it failed MOT in March on several things including battery clamp missing and no battery cover. Two days later it passed, although both these items were still missing....So I ordered a clamp via Parts Gateway and a tray and clamp arrived but seem too large for the space available.

I think i just need the clamp but not this one! Does anyone have a photo of what the clamp arranagement should look like please?

Mine doesn't have a clamp or a cover, never has since I've owned it. Never even noticed until last weekend when @Bozzy popped round and picked up on it as I had the battery on charge.

I don't think the battery can go very far, but I'm just trying to knock it off the MOT list for the future.

Not got a pic right now, but the clamp has a wedge on the top a bit like the silvery part at about 9 o'clock in your picture

I'll dig a pic out tomorrow

Have spare ones for sale if you're interested

hi that battery tray don't go in your car the bit marked 1 is what the battery locates against yours like mine welded to floor the silver triangle bit is the clamp you need the long bolt or some alternative to hold it down you appear to possibly have a bolt there already

Cheers Stevo - so although the tray is wrong, the clamp is still the right one?

Ah no, that's a different clamp and long bolt

Ah your right your clamp got 2 fingers either side 2 minutes I'm going to have a look on real OEM see if I can fin d the pic / part number

Looking at your car pic there unusual colour  . Was looking at your mot history fair few advisories compared to previous years was the tester a bit harsh on it this year

Brilliant Stevo - I didn't find that page yesterday when I looked. I've just ordered those parts.

Car colour is Turquoise Green 326. Halfords mixed me some spray and touch up while I waited yesterday.

I've only had the car a week so the previous owner did the MOT. Two of the failure items, Battery clamp/cover and also broken for light weren't fixed but two days later a pass certificate was issued without the work being done.

I quite like advisories as sort of an early heads up on what you need to do to pass the following year, rather than waiting 12 months and it failing.

Its fiji Green a special addition colour normally the interior is piped body colour.
Always admired this colour always seemed to pop up on the 1.9's when i was looking for my 2.8.

Fiji (code 413) is a little darker - this is actually Turquoise (code 326)

Don't mean that see on your passenger inner wing do you have a plate something like this on mine.

if you have it means the car was pulled off the production line to be individually specced to a customer requirements eg colour / trim etc there were also some official bmw specced individual models
