Hi all.
Need a new Battery for my 3.0.
Leaning towards Bosch but what’s good otherwise?

I got a Bosch for my 3.0l .. but also as Tony said.. just make sure it’s got enough umph!
 
Bosch all day long for me:thumbsup: got one for the 2.2 back in July. The last one only lasted 11 years :whistle:

All OE suppliers..Exide to BMW for sure

Other folks on other forums have made negative comments on Bosch but I've not personally seen any issues.

My Z4 runs an AGM varta and our Volvo XC70 had Varta as OE.
 
German batteries are tested to DIN standards, where they have to pass the cold cranking amps (CCA) for a minute - oriental types are tested to the SAE standard, which calls for 30 seconds. This means that the German battery is a lot better than an oriental type, regardless of the name on it.
Bosch, Varta, or Sonnenshien are all good. Use of a trickle charger /automatic charger will extend battery life a lot - I usually get 10 to 12 years from a battery.

DIN was replaced by ETN in 2006 onwards which is a superset of the relevant DIN standards.

Oriental appears to be a somewhat derogatory term for a multitude of countries, each with different quality standards for products at differing price points.

Yuasa batteries for the Z4 E89 comply with EN1 as part of ETN..

Because of confusion between ETN! and ETN2 SAE is often used as its simpler to understand.

However you look at it Yuasa AGM batteries are the equal to VARTA and others..I bought Varta on price and availablity.

If Yuasa was price competative then I would certainlly buy them.

It's smarter to fit Varta! I'm sure I heard that somewhere. :p
 
I buy all my batteries from BMW.

Most dealers will price match if you ask nicely. My last one (80a iirc) was £88 with VAT.

It's nice to open the bonnet/boot and see a BMW battery.

The first one I bought was in 2007 for my 7 Series and it's still good.

Buy cheap, buy twice.

BMW don't make batteries, though. Just a BMW sticker on another brand.
 
What brand are they. It'll be on the battery somewhere.
