Just picked the Zed up from the works car park and found the following damage to rear bumper :mad::mad:

No note left on the car so I'll be on the look out for yellow paint tomorrow.

In the meantime; has any one had a similar experience and can advise on a patch re-spray (I'm concerned about seeing any paint joint line) or should I have a complete bumper re-spray?

I'm sure there are more qualified than I when it comes to paint, but I'd personally have the whole bumper resprayed.

Really sorry to hear about the damage too, I hope you catch them!

Grrrrrr...... Get in touch with the smart repair guys in your area, they are very good and once the repair is done you'll struggle to see the damage.

I feel your pain :(:( sorry to hear this

Let me at them I will be first in the line to shout at the idiots who did this

Not sure if Dakar is hard one to match so I would price up a repair and a whole bumper respray

Always annoying...

I'd repaint the whole bumper if it was my car, the colour isn't especially easy to match - but it shouldn't prove a problem for an experienced/proper painter.

Chris

I'm sorry to see who ever damaged your Zed couldn't be bothered to leave a note.

I've been touting the Zed around today to obtain a quote...........I was gob smacked when one body shop even suggested repainting the whole rear of the car to guarantee a colour match. :nailbiting: :eek:

I was hoping that technology had moved on to allow for a better colour match.........gone are the days when you use to see Red/Orange cars.....obviously not :depressed:

Sad news barst....... As you say:rage:
No cctv anywhere I presume??

Yes there is CCTV..........but as I park as far away as possible from the 'crowds', it does not reach that far.........DOH! DOH! DOH! :bashhead:

Yellow is notoriously hard to match even on new cars that have not faded much.
I had a speed yellow car it took 3 attempts from a reputable bodyshop to match the front bumper as it was stone chipped
Reds not to clever to match either but a mate of mine with a bodyshop matched Tracy's Zed.
He is in Nazeing Hertfordshire if you want his details give me a shout.
Cliff.

Hi Stacey.........e-mail just sent.

I was hoping the Zed was going to be in tip top condition ready for the 22nd......but it looks like times against me :(

Thanks for your help as always.

Sorry to see this hope you can get it sorted at a reasonable price. Some body shops have their own paint mixing on site which uses a paint lookup system that not only can mix the colour from your paint code but also has a spectral colour scanner they can place on the car and it matches the colour exactly. Local body shop to me has this and did a great job on a previous car a few years ago albeit that was silver. They said they could accurately match any colour thrown at them which is a bold statement to make.

@Sean d . I think a good shop would be able to blow that in without too much hassle. A metallic colour would be harder. As above from Ian, most paint mixing systems can tint to allow for fading etc.

Tony.

Cheers Aceman..........you've given me some hope :) I'll be asking around to see who has a spectral colour scanner

My dakar has been blown in down one side paint job is lovely but match is not spot on :( . I'd still try get a few quotes the right bodyshop be able to do you a good job :)

My son's 55 Pontiac was injured and he needed custom paint matching. They used the spectrometer on several spots on the body and painted the parts. I couldn't tell where the old and new paint started and it was a special blend of metallics put in. Although after 10 yrs there is a definite difference due to his being out of country and his dad to lazy to polish his car!! JIM

@TWO domt worry about condition mine has at least 3 shades of yellow so saving for a full respray

Offers there if interested to put you in touch with my mate he has matched a very hard colour for me Peridot met green spot on.
Best thing is he is very fair inexpensive it's not a huge posh place but has all the kit and experience needed cash is king if you know what I mean for a better deal.
I think the whole bumper might need painting but no expert he will know.
Mention me and he will do the best job possible at a sensible price.
Cliff.
