See why i like working on zeds, my head has a chance to relax. Inside this reactor it reaches 16,000,000 degrees. We simulate the power of the sun to generate electricity. :)
You do any work on the laser and computer at AWE? Mind boggling stuff.

I have been grounded due to my eye sight, won't let me back on the choppers or the rigs.
I have been doing this sh*** since 1983 and loved it to bits and miss it greatly, best time I had was one year in the Sahara.

I briefly worked on the old helen laser but not the new orion laser. I worked there for 10 years in a different field :p
There at the same time maybe. I was there from 2007 - 2011. Orion was/is immense compared to Helen.

Yeah very possible I was there from 2004-2014. Might end up back their towards the end of the year the place is only 9 miles away lol.

Good place to work. Interesting.

Yeah it is, They have so many areas of research, when I was leaving they had a new Hydrodynamics facility about to come online.

Went up to watch the boffins do their stuff in "H" area a few times, didn't really get the flow but was fascinating.

Bombing around in 4x4's with GPS & sat phones, getting drunk on home (read container) made beer, driving 3 hours to get a full English breakfast at an Aussie drilling rig....those were the days...:)

If you were given the choice of going to Skegness or the Sahara, which one would you choose?....;)

That my friend goes without saying! And it wouldn't be Skeggy!!

After Skegness I did four years of inspection work all over the world, sometimes flying three or four times a week, that does get to you though, it gets to feel like waiting at a bus stop to go to work on a rainy Monday morning.
