After nearly 2.5 years off the road fixing bodge after bodge it finally passed an MOT this afternoon.
She really should have gone to the crusher but I just couldn't scrap a Zed.
Only a couple of months ago I thought it was unsavable because the electrical bodges were getting too difficult and numerous to solve.
Just cosmetic stuff to do now.

She looks a bit rough on top still but underneath she's new.
New suspension
New bushes
All seals replaced
Rebuild gearbox
Rebuilt diff
New bearings throughout
Subframes blasted, treated and painted.
New bolts everywhere
New cills
All new sensors
New brakes with refurbished calipers
Rebuilt engine with new oil pump, chain, rings and journals.
Engine block soda blasted and painted with the alloy parts vapour blasted and lacquered.
Ported and rebuild head
Good used head lights
Excellent condition replacement seats
Replaced SRS/airbag system
Rust removed
Resprayed engine bay
Replacement binacle
And bodge removal.

Been driving all evening in it and loved it.

Well done for saving a Z Pete. Been a long journey mate and you stuck at it.

Tony.

Cheers Tony
Still a bit more to go but she's of of intensive care.
It's been a long journey and it has been a hard one but it was all worth it to drive it again. Drives completely different now. 😁

New now then ;) Good job, another one saved

She's getting better with every mile. Done about 110 miles in it now. Every now and then it throws up a warning light then it vanishes and never comes back on.
Some question why I saved a 1.9 but they're all good and deserve saving.
Think I'm going to enjoy it for the summer then get it resprayed over winter.

Anyone have an idea how much a respray should set me back?

Managed to get a few quick snaps whilst it was on the ramps of the underneath.
I appreciate the exhaust is not the best fitted with clamps rather than weld. Only a temp fit whilst I got to see if it was for me. It's not and has to go. Sounds like a chav in his Corsa 🤣
Suits the car though.

Threw up a good list of fault codes on the way home but when I tested they systems they were linked to with my scanner they all tested good. Cleared the codes and they didn't come back after a short drive 🤷🏼‍♂️.
All ABS, secondary air pump and fan codes. Assuming it's just electrical tantrums from sitting around in the elements for so long. Drives fine.

You should be proud of yourself after all that work you will appreciate the z even more because you did all the work 👍👍
