Back in the day.

I had Corbeau GT's in one of my mini's, not too sure I would fit in one these days though.

Tony.
Me neither mate, less marathon runner and more like a shot putter these days

I did get out very fast around the time I was 22, jumped in on a very hot day and my tee shirt had pulled up and the metal "rings" in the seat covering were so hot they branded my back for a few days!! Certainly got out much quicker than I got in . . . . . . . . . .

Tony

I must do something with the 76 Mini I have mothballed out back! It's a shame not too, perhaps when my brother moves back next spring we can blitz it, should only take a couple of weeks to have it up and running. So many projects so little money!! lol JIM

No way! My first car was a MkI Astra just like like. I c
Had the rare sky blue colour with a bespoke oxidised powdery finish!
Oh yes the oxisided paint finish! That was on the extras list i believe!

Just like the rust free models. . . . . . . ;) Well, they didn't charge for it:thumbsup:

It was epic of course being my first car. If you look closely the coveted oxidised paintwork is starting to show on the front wing. There is also a dent on the rear 3/4 panel caused by my shoe when my ex annoyed me for some reason I can't quite remember now. At least I kicked the car and not her, although on reflection....

Got up to many shenanigans in that car, most of them might be little too much detail for the public forum!

Gotta love your first car.

I'll not forget the time when Talbot cars brought in a 6 year anti-perforation warranty "over night" , man that caused some headaches.

Tony.

This was my dad with his 1947 Austin 10 in about 1960.He had a new Austin Cambridge , but kept the old and by then less shiny Austin 10 to hand down to me in 1966 when I started student life.
My first car of my own when I started work in 1969 was this Ford Anglia. It was held together with pop rivets and the thick layer of enamel paint which I had applied with a large brush. I also painted the interior with gloss black paint from Woolworths.
Obviously,things had to get better!!!

I've got a bit of a chequered car history but these are some of my faves....

Cavalier 4x4 Turbo! Not bad for 19 years old. This was the car that taught me as a petrol head I was choosing to live a life of poverty!

Subaru Impreza (grey import with 303 bhp). Ugly as sin but planets were made with less power than this car!

Yes ours got tin worm as well. Around the sunroof of all places.

I found a few in some old albums, I have more in seperate packets of photo's when I get a chance to look through them. @Grumpy our drive and entrance has changed a bit in 35 years or so,

This next one came a few years later before Abz came along, this is at Ullrome just south of Bridlington, Yorks.

This my old father-in-law's F2 stock car, I was his mechanic. The red Mini in the background was mine,

And here's me after the mechanics race at Boston Stadium.

This was the chassis from my '66 Spitfire which I had totally stripped and rebuilt apart from the o/s/f chassis corner which still needed straightening and welding ready for the bodywork resto before house purchase intervened.

The Mini Clubman Est. was another of my work in progress motors, had lots of those. The "L" plates were Shirl's. This also had a full length Webasto canvas sunroof!
Finally my old Mini Countryman in Ford Electric blue, bought this for £25 in the pub one Sunday lunchtime and it came with a n MG 1100 motor in it, went s*** off a stick!!!

I was 19-20 at that time.
