Hi, recently fitted a b/f seat motor to my Z3 - as a 2nd hand part it has now also failed. My mechanic tells me the motors are not really powerful enough to do the job & I wondered if anyone has come across a more powerful alternative which is compatible with the Z3?
Mine is a 2000 2L model

I’m no mechanic but they seem to be good enough for the job they do.

When mine stopped working ! I took it apart and cleaned the commutator and it started working again.
If you think its broken, you cant lose anything by taking it apart !!!

Use a small screwdriver to ease out the 4 tabs ( as blue dot) and the motor comes apart. Bit fiddly getting the carbon brushes back in place when it goes back but worth a try.....might even find a brush is stuck in its housing.

Then you just test it on a battery

I’ve sold loads of these and not once has anyone said it failed quickly.

if it’s struggling with a working replacement I’d be looking at the worm screw thread for grease and blockages

Thanks for the quick replies & advice - unfortunately whilst I love driving my Zed I'm about as useful as a chocolate fire guard when it comes to mechanical stuff - I'll pass on the comments to the garage & see if they can resolve the problem for me.
Thanks again for the advice

You’re not a million mikes from Torksey Lock in Lincolnshire, home of Zedshed (Midlands) .

Dont know when Tony is planning another shed day , but you will get far better advice and help from @t-tony and the guys that attend than you will from a garage!!!

I tagged him in the last post so he nay be along soon !!!
