Sorry peeps but it's that time of year to bore you all to death (no pun intended).
Yes this is a Scotch Pine tree and artificial ones don't react quite the same, however, the message remains extant;
1. Never leave your tree lights on when you're out or go to bed at night. Unplug!
2. Close your doors at night, this gives you a fighting chance to escape and slows down fire gas spread (smoke)
3. Test your smoke detectors to ensure they are working properly, none hard wired detectors with no battery fitted will not save your life!
4. If you must have lit candles, never leave them unattended or where small children can knock them over. Not by your net curtains or other combustible material and always extinguish at night.
5. Don't overload your plug sockets or "daisy chain" extension leads. Always fully unravel long extension leads to prevent heat build up, and fire.
6. The kitchen will be busy with potentially all the relatives round, don't leave the cooker unattended for prolonged periods of time.
7. Don't let your children place their mobile phones etc under their pillows at night, they can and do catch fire (any make).
8. Have an escape plan in the event of a fire, it could save your life!
9. If trapped, try and block the door with whatever is to hand, get to the window and scream FIRE! It will attract attention.
You can call your Local Fire Brigade to have them carry out a free Fire Risk Assessment of your house and fit two free smoke detectors if needed.
Sorry about that. Keep safe
