Hi guys, looking to fit an auto roof, can't work out where the pump goes though. I have looked on the net and they appear to fit in the boot by the NSR wheel, as per pic below.

Had my boot out today and can't find the brackets for fitting, pic below

So on the plus side no water or nastys but on the down side no brackets for the pump. I was under the impression that all Z,s had this capability. Does this mean I can't fit the auto roof or have I missed something really simple? @GazHyde @Lee @Synclare

Hi, sorry posted in haste just realised the mounting brackets need to be spot welded on, panic over.

Andy

I had no brackets so purchased them from BMW Soper cost from memory was £30 including postage.

For the sake of drilling a few spot welds out you could remove them from the donor car if Andy still has it?

Tony.

Pop rivet or spot weld. Quite simple :)

Hi did you pop rivet them?

Andy
Yes. Pop riveted also the guy who did it used some car glue used to assemble Aston Martin cars. To protect the the metalwork behind the wing liner

Cheers did you take the wing liner off and re-seal the arch?

Andy

No. If you drill carefully without drilling the liner. You will have to force the rivet in push against the liner then once the rivet is crimped there will be no deflection in the liner. As for resealing behind the wing liner what we did was use a product the name of which escapes me just now which is used to glue car panels together piping a bead into the hole then rotated the rivet and as the rivet crimps it seals behind.

As to where the right place is. Look at your photo and on the wheel arch is a raised area towards the back of the car in that raised area is a flat spot thats where to fit the rear larger bracket

Andy. The brackets are supplied with the complete kit you have purchased

You may have noticed the boot carpet falls short of completion from my photo

Andy hasn't actually picked the kit up as yet hence the confusion I think :) Rest assured he will receive suitable instructions to become a certified power hood installer :D

I have my NVQ - Not Very Qualified in Certified Power Hood Installer now.
Now mine is all soldered in it works a treat.

Damn pressure is on, theres nothing like pulling failure from the jaws of success. Picking up on weds so I guess the roof mysteries will dissipate or the demons of stupidity will have their day.

HHHmmmm
