Just wondered about the legality of these. I'm guessing that the unsmoked areas are deliberate to conform with the minimum lighting area?

I haven't seen these before as to the legality of these I guess @t-tony would be able to confirm if they are.

There's facelift and pre facelift ones on ebay.. think it would look good on a black car

There's a guy local to me who 'smokes' front and rear lights using his secret formula.. He had a 3 series there once vinyl wrapped matt black and he was smoking the lights for the guy.. looked pretty amazing..

My s***'s custom!
Smoked rear lights are not illegal as such. What is illegal is obscuring the light emitted OR obscuring the reflectors for when the car is parked. Provided neither is effected you're good to go.

In my youth I ran a number of Golf gti's. Smoked lenses were very popular, I had them myself on more than one and never had a problem with the mot or police.

True bud, but the rules keep changing mate. Like tinted motor cycle helmet visors?

An easy way to tint your rear lights is to get a pair of the other half's tights and put them over the light units themselves. I remember doing it to my first car, a Vauxhall Nova when I thought it was cool  Then came the Lexus lights on my Renault Clio

Even cheaper way was strips of black insulation tape with tiny gaps. Not saying I ever did this, just saying I know how it can be done...

Ricketts = in many cases very bow legged. It's a saying my old dad used to use a lot, " He wouldn't stop a pig in a passage"
