Were you ever a member of that golf club @t-tony?
I would be if I had one next door to me, I still play now and again with my mate Rob who keeps a sharp eye out where my ball goes for me due to my eyesight.
Also, don't forget, cheap pints ;) .... :beer
 
No Mike, I had the same issue in that I could easily hit a ball further than I could see it. Next door is just a fishing lake mate though. Local golf club is a couple of miles in either direction. One for the Henry's and one for Joe Public.

Same over here and I joined the "Henry's" one when it first opened and you had to pay membership and buy shares.
Got sick of not being able to play at the weekends due to competitions, so bailed out.
Good bit was though, I quit at the clubs peak and they had a waiting list for new members so if a person wanted to join, your membership went to the highest bidder.
Made a bloody good profit out of that deal .... :drinks:

Bloody hell, our club was cheaper than the locale pubs at the time, also with the food, think it was to pull in the punters as it was a new course. No idea what they are charging now?
 
Our neighbour owns and runs a golf course. Nothing fancy. Only 9 holes and a mile away. But - I don't play golf.
And, we and all the neighbours have been banned from the club-house for winning quizzes there ;)
Not really, the neighbours son put it about the members that we were professional quiz team - that wound them up =))
 
Getting back on topic .... :whistle:

One winter we had a lot of snow and one of the girls at work confided in me, she lives near the golf course, that by accident she found herself riding her horse over the fairways and greens.
The club secretary went mental when they saw the damage done to the greens.
I did not say a word.:facepalm:
 
Just been out to South Warwickshire and the wind was blowing the snow off the fields across the road. One or 2 cars parked in the ditches and then a car and caravan in the ditch. Must have come round the bend into snow across the road and lost it, van was on it's side.All ok hurt pride and damaged car and van.

Our car has gone white though with all the salt on the roads.

A bit precious about their grass for some reason. Its OK to know lumps out with a bit of wood or metal on the end of a stick though.

It was like that on the last dump of snow as well Brian. Numpties driving out of town at the speed limit because there's no snow on the road to be confronted with a drift right across the road as they crest the brow of a hill or round a bend.

And back off topic, when I was working down in Slovenia on the Adriatic their bier was as cheep as chips before they got the Euro. :mad:
