As my zed and other cars are all agreed valuation does anyone on the forum do valuations for insurance purposes? Previously for my other car insurers in the past they have wanted a valuation from the relevant car club usually by the way of sending in photographs, the valuation officer for the club in question then provides a written valuation which is forwarded to the insurer.
My current insurers, a big name in classic cover, have not asked for any formal valuation but just gone on my own valuation, how have other zed owners faired in this respect?

The BMW Car Club used to do valuations, but I don't know how accurate they are these days. If you go with an insurance company I thought they provided a valuation for you.

just my thought here, not based on fact.

if you value your Z3 at say £5k above the going rate, pay the premium uplift and have documentation to support it in the form of photos and upgrade receipts, etc, you'll be okay should you have to claim.

however, if you have no docs to support it, and you've claimed for 3 over valued write-offs in the past, they are likely to argue!

In reality, the agreed value uplift on a z3 isn't likely to be enough for an insurer to want to be dragged into court for, they probably have a threshold where they ask for it and you may not have hit it.

@BMBabe may be the best to comment?

I'll be needing a valuation too when I take out my agreed value poly with Manning who said a 'qualified' person like a car mechanic should suffice.

Backing up with receipts is a good idea though (in my case I don't have all the receipts but can prove the replacement cost of all the extras which is probably more relevant as insurance is there to put you back to where you where so to speak).
