Hi everyone,
Continuing my search for the right Z3, I'm looking at a '99 2.0 today! So far I've avoided ones without the RollHoops as I like the Original BMW mesh wind protector that I had on my previous one. I don't really fancy DIY'ing retrofit hoops, so I wondered if anyone had any experience or views on alternatives? Dirk

I personally prefer the oem hoops and I've heard they aren't that difficult to fit. More difficult to locate but do come up regularly.

Gives you more options for wind deflectors and suit the look of the car better.

I like the look of the chrome ones. Got a thing for chrome at the moment.

There are sellers on eBay who sell chrome hoops which replace the factory fit black ones and fit in the same mountings. Whether they are the same quality of material and therefore strength, I have no idea. I like chrome too as you can tell.:)

Tony.

Chrome are the best looking with a nice perspex wind deflector but the original black with mesh are the best for keeping the wind down. I used to have a set of each when i had the Z3. The Chrome i used in the summer months and the originals i would use in the winter months for those chilly days out. That way you have the best of both worlds

How they look with the chrome

Yeah we had chrome bars on our Z3 ......... ;)
We brought them and Alan fitted them ....... ;)
It didn't take long to do ;)
Then we fitted a wind deflector ;)
It made the car look smarter :)
But each person has their own taste at what they want to do with their Z :)

There's a set of originals on eBay UK at the moment! Also the inner fittings. Have a look! JIM

It's the right way around if you are using it for the aero effect, increases downforce, just add some sheet metal to the contour...

Add a suitcase if you wish to slow down quickly from speeds of 100 mph or over!

But the rack has to be turned for access to the suitcase . It could be locked onto the rack backwards but why would someone do that. Lip to back only for tying sheep to. So Hugh has that correct and it should be in the owners manual just for Welsh owners so as to avoid confusion in the rest of the world.
