Any one swapped an M43 to an M44 before?

Hi guys.
Got a 51 plate with an M43 lump in that's perky enough to start with but totally gutless there after.
Thinking of exchanging it for an M44 i have knocking about for a few extra ponies.

Couple of questions i can't find the answer to are.
1. Will it be essentially plug and play with my original ECU etc.
2. Will it pass an MOT as the emmisions will be higher.

Thanks

The emissions should be tested as though it was an M44 being tested using the parameters listed in the "In Service Emissions" booklet.

Tony.

ps. However, unless you volunteered the information I doubt many testers would know the difference in the engines and as long as it passed it would remain that way.

Seems like a lot of trouble to go to when there are loads of cars for sale that would provide you with what you want. Flog yours and buy another.

I do already have most things to swap it over plus the M43 needs to come out for some work anyway.

I have an m43 and an m44 powered zed.
It would not be a straight swap wiring different ECU will also be different and that's just for starters it could be done but definitely not just an out and in job.

I believe the emissions are much more "sensitive" (higher) on the M44, hence one of the reasons the engine was discontinued. The M44 is unlikely to pass a M43 emissions test. That said, the M44 is a far more responsive car. As has been said, likely best to sell and buy a M44.

I'm finding that alot of parts are different like the clutch, flywheel, exhaust, pipe work etc.
I do have alot of the stuff already. Just not an ecu.
Guessing it's best to forget the M44 and sell it due to unlikely passing the emmisions test.

I'd love to know what makes the M43 pass but the M44 fail emmisions when they are both 1.9 with the same block just a difference of 8 valves.
Know the M43 has an EGR where as the M44 doesn't however the American spec M44 had one.
