That's interesting. So according to the Authorisation side each group of 8 to 9 cars passes all but number 4 for not requiring authorisation

I've got to travel 4 hours :(
Slighty longer than us Shelly looked it up 3 hour 30 mins 159 miles just to get there.
We have done events so far each time it's getting on for 500 miles all in .
Don't mind doing that occasionally but can't keep doing it every event.
Never mind hope everyone enjoys the event they can be fun.:)

It can be a "put off" sometimes, it's the same for us too. Last year when we did the Euro run, we covered more miles in the UK from Truro to Folkestone and back, than we did visiting France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.

We have to drive 100 miles to get to the end of the nearest motorway M5 at Exeter.

Don't mind Jack if it's a touring holiday. The big miles just for a day out are to much.
We have travelled all over on car things to name a few Spain Germany France Belgium Luxembourg as said lots of other destinations .Only last week we went to Wales for a few days driving so it's not really the miles that puts us off.
Just doesn't seem to be any events this year within 100 miles just to get there .
It's hard going in a 20 year old car in one day it has to be treated with a little respect maybe bigger engines cope better at eating up big miles can't say in a Zed only ever had 2 1.9s.
Maybe just our location the lack of Zed owners who knows.
Enjoy your trips Jack where ever they take you.

"If you build it, they will come" - Kevin Costner, Field of dreams.

I've been up and down the country in the last two years for events and loved every minute but I started to think 'wouldn't it be great if there was an event on my doorstep'.... so last year I made one with @Twin Turbo. If you fancy something close to home nothing is impossible when you set some planning time aside.
Spot on Mac, that's what we did. Can't make this weekend but I'm hoping to get to Clumber Park and some of the Newark Sunday meets too. We're booked for Shepshed, looking forwards to that again.

Tony.

I watch and read everyone posting about how far everything is to get to. Well come to Canada which has a trans-Canada Hwy spanning the country which is nearly 8,000km long. If we want to shop in a city it's an hour and half each way. What I need is a plane not a Zed I think sometimes but what fun would that be? JIM

I understand your comments regarding distances etc. Jim having been to the US many times, we often find ourselves travelling maybe 35-40 miles just to go for a breakfast or go shopping and think nothing of it. But, and it's a big but, over there we pay only 1/5 of the price for fuel than we do at home and at home we have to take that and other things into consideration, before going off just for an entertaining weekend.
It is probably just the British mindset and a generation thing too, our kids tend not to consider such things as much and are more the "live for today" outlook on life. Everyone does what they feel they can afford to do I suppose.

Not just that, also what people in their country are used to.
We have got approx 3hr drive down to the Limborit which is peanuts but people say "Jesus, you driving all that way just for a car cruise?"
And I delight in saying, no, just for a beer.....:D

And I'm genuinely pleased your making the effort again mate. I hope you continue to do so as long as it runs. :)

Back in the 60-70's we would drive from Winnipeg to Calgary about 14-1500km to go for a beer in the Calgary Tower after a hockey game and head home on Sunday getting home just in time to go straight in to work for 5:30am. Best beers ever!! JIM
