I think that requires a new terminal, or you may be able to cut the broken clamp part off and braze a new clamp on

From memory I think it just connects to the main fuse a few inches along, in that case I should have that piece to replace your snapped clamp. Will look tomorrow if I remember.

Failing that, plenty of these around on the bay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-Pce-12V-Leisure-Battery-Terminals-Connectors-Clamps-Car-Van-Caravan-Motorhome/261235740056?epid=1442337181&_trkparms=ispr=1&hash=item3cd2dd0d98:g:GOgAAOSw1VRZkYvs&enc=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&checksum=2612357400560f2f1885c7d3418b84bc3d4666ed5a87&enc=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&checksum=2612357400560f2f1885c7d3418b84bc3d4666ed5a87

It's been on the go awhile judging by the colours in the fracture line, I assume you know it's upside down in the picture :shy:

Potential problem with those connectors is they are I guess for thick multi strand cable. The zed uses extremely fine wire with an abnormally high number of strands, current carrying capacity could be compromised unless all are clamped, but then perhaps I'm wrong.

I've used plenty of similar screwed connectors in the past with no problem, they can be soldered if it's felt necessary. Current carrying capacity is down to the overall cross-section of the wire, fine or coarse doesn't make a whole lot of difference in the real world. And if it gets the car back on the road, well, that's the real point, ain't it?
@the Nefyn cat .

Like longest Ebay link ever :whistle::whistle:

You may well be right, especially considering the size of the parts involved. 'spect there's a reason, probably hi-tech. And maybe there isn't.:rolleyes:

Red jump lead fastened onto broken batt lead with other end of jump lead onto batt with cable ties to stop em jumping off. Insulate both ends to stop shorting and off you go to main agent for new batt cable.

Roy.

Unfortunately I cannot help having looked at my stock of battery cables today. The main cable runs right to the front of the car. The terminal is a crimp fit. However I would have thought it possible to buy a new crimp style terminal and have a hydraulic hose manufacturer or the like crush it onto the cable for you.

You can use this type of clamp even with the fine strand type copper cable. You just need to cut a strip of thin metal long enough to fit the clamp where the screws are and tap it with a small hammer on the slightly open jaws of a vice to create a curved cross section.

When you slide the bared cable into the clamp simply place the strip of metal between the bared cable and the screws. The ring terminal will fit under one of the gripper screws. Had to use this many times in the past.

Thank you all for the info and help is why this place is so good . Managed to fit a new clamp on today , as said fine wire in 4 strips temp job will get a new wire fitted through the car by garage car back on road getting ready 4 mot.

That's quite a big job to do. Significant parts of the interior will need to come out.

Have a look at this thread here where I replaced a whole loom. Post 46 certainly shows it. It enters the rear bulk head, drops down onto the driver's floor pan and then leaves through the engine bulkhead where (from memory - I think) it goes to the starter. Ironically it was the 1 part of the loom I didn't replacement in that project.

I really wouldn't do that! It will cost a fortune and is unnecessary. Better off getting a new OEM clamp professionally fitted.

What he said up there. I've used plenty of the screwed type of terminals for much heavier electrical loads in the past, with no problems at all. The thought of paying someone to strip out the car to fit a whole new wire to the starter motor :wideyed: that's going to be loads-of-money.
