I am new to the forum- my first post. My first Z car. Mine has not been maintained to the level that I would have liked, but I figure everything I fix is an improvement. The electric antenna has apparently not worked in a long time, and the cover was missing. So moisture has been getting in, and the entire base is a mess-rusted. I'm wondering what aftermarket antennas work on these cars. Most of the cars I see are not electric, and I certainly do not need an electric antenna. Simple is always better, as I see it. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Don't think BMW did an electric (up and down) antenna for the Z3 (if that is your car?), so likely aftermarket anyways. I would obtain an OEM one from a breaker. :thumbsup:
Don't know about other Zs.

I assumed that this unit was an electric, but now that you mention that, I think you are correct...it's not an electric. But what is the rectangle black unit that the coax wire feeds into? Could it be a booster?

Hi
Our resident breaker may have one
@spurs fan in a coupe
Tagged so will be in contact
I got a replacement from Andy for the same reason…You may also need to get a new aerial grommet as well ( via BMW )
If you need to know the part number contact me

And welcome to the forum from Bognor Regis :welcome:

Thank you...if you do have the part number, and it's not a problem, that would be great. This is all new to me... I'm wondering why s genetic, aftermarket antenna would not work.. Thanks

Hi and welcome.
do not know if an aftermarket will do (there is an antenna amplifier somewhere so this may have to be checked also) but here are all the oem parts for your car.

They may well do but I prefer to stick with Std parts… at least you know they fit !!!

@rzacc

I can supply an oem bmw Annetta and aerial mast if you like. I can message you privately to arrange if you’re interested.

Thanks
