Into the crash barrier on the motorway down south near Tilburg yesterday in the rain, at 130 kph, left hand side of the car is totally knackered but just shows you how strong these little cars are.....

mmm do you not think it would polish out?

Sad to see a Zed go but it did its job for the driver. Sounds like the car strengthening did its job. Cars a pretty strong on the sides - designed to take much higher penetrating side impacts compared to distributing the energy hitting side on into the barrier. It's when you hit the barrier nose or tail first at that speed it causes more damage. Was in a taxi on the autostrada outside Rome on the way to catch a plane. A tyre blew and we hit the barrier nose first at 120kph, spun and rebounded across and the tail hit, then spun and hit the barrier three more times.
Still made my flight though despite a badly sprained ankle although the taxi wasn't going any further.

Does anyone else think that post smash with those creases it looks like a Z1?

Got to watch these (and any BMW I find) on rainy motorways, they like to skate. This one doesn't have even have extra wide tyres that makes it worse.

if no one got hurt, that's not so bad, just shows they can bite you at an inopportune moment

I found that any car can. I was going to work on march 1st in a Mercedes e320 with all the aids on. Hita patch of water @ 60 and into a tree I went. Broken back/ankle, Dislocated shoulder/ smashed knee. Car was a mess but done it's job, Just and I'm still here.
Just goes to show on the day I ran out of talent the car with all the aids on still lifted off the road and hit something hard.

crikey Russell o that sounds painful!

It bloody was at the time mate and age don't help the healing(52) but hey, Live to fight another day and I'm walking and working (slowly).
The emergency services and hospital were fantastic.
when your sitting their in your car and can't get out because your trapped. They take over and just sort it out.

How wonderful to be looked after the way they did me.

so many people knock the emergency services, but they are something special, where would we be without them, I understand the age thing we don't bounce half as well after 50 do we

Wow....o_O

Am I allowed to say 'lucky b*****d'.....?

Oh yeah mate.

That's the reason I bought the Z. After 8 weeks on my back in a brace I needed something to get up for and slowly my fabulous little old car has got me 80% fit again and getting stronger every day.

The Z has worked wonders in more ways than one mate.....
